Position Summary

JAAGO Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and proactive Center Assistant - Bus to provide mechanical support for the "Shopner  Sharothi" project in the Girls Education and Skills Partnership (GESP), specifically focusing on the Skill on Wheels component. Under this component a mobile training center (a transformed bus with all necessary training opportunities) will help us reach the remote upazilas of Cox’s Bazar & Bandarban districts directly, providing a continuous and stable learning environment. This initiative aims to empower adolescent girls and young women in Cox's Bazar and Bandarban. The Center Assistant-Bus will play a crucial role in assisting the Bus Driver with the daily operations of the Skill on Wheels training center, ensuring a secured, smooth and effective learning environment for participants.

The Center Assistant-Bus will be responsible for providing support and technical assistance to the Bus Driver. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to drive a modified/transformed bus and have the skills to regularly address and maintain various mechanical issues related to the bus.

The ideal candidate should have experience in education or community service and a commitment to empowering young women through skills development. The Center Assistant-Bus will work closely with the Bus Driver. This role will enhance the overall training experience within the Skill on Wheels component, contributing to the program's success and impact.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Bus Driver in managing daily operations of the mobile training center, ensuring the vehicle and training facilities are well-functioned for each session.
  • Monitor and maintain the condition and cleanliness of the bus to ensure smooth functionality.
  • Identify and report any challenges or issues that arise during technical and mechanical support to the Driver for timely resolution.
  • Set up and organize training spaces within the bus, ensuring all materials and tools are readily available for participants.
  • Ensure that all security and safety protocols are followed during training sessions and while the bus is in operation.
  • Assist in managing crowd control and ensuring participant safety in and around the training center.

Safeguarding:

  • Uphold and promote the organization's safeguarding policies to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults engaged in our activities.
  • Immediately report any concerns, suspicions, or incidents of safeguarding breaches in line with the organization's reporting procedures.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and conduct that fosters a safe and respectful environment for all beneficiaries, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience 

Education:

  • JSC or Equivalent.

Experience:

  • The applicants must have 1-2 years of working experience in driving heavy vehicles and maintaining bigger vehicles (Bus).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Having a valid driving licence will be mandatory.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair to assist the Bus Driver.
  • Basic writing and reading skills, responsible communication in Bangla and Local Language.
  • Ability to work under high pressure in unstable and frequently changing contexts.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with trainers, the Bus Driver, and program stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • Familiarity with Safeguarding is essential.
  • Having Bus Driving experience in Hilly areas.
